Untitled design - 4

Nova Scotia is a beautiful place to visit anytime, but there’s something magical about autumn here. The cool air, stunning fall colors, and coastal scenery make it a perfect spot for a fall getaway. Whether you love hiking, great food, or just want to take in some breathtaking views, there’s plenty to enjoy. Here are our top three autumn highlights in Nova Scotia.

1. Cabot Trail: Best Fall Views

The Cabot Trail is one of the most famous drives in Nova Scotia, and it’s even better in the fall. The bright reds, oranges, and yellows of the leaves look amazing against the rugged cliffs and the blue ocean. The trail loops around Cape Breton Island, and there are plenty of lookout points like Mackenzie Mountain and Beulach Ban Falls where you can stop and take in the scenery. If you’re up for a short hike, the Skyline Trail is a must—it’s pretty easy and gives you incredible views of the ocean and fall colors. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to complete the hike, but from all the pictures online, the views are totally worth it.

2. Lunenburg: Fall Vibes and Coastal Charm

Lunenburg is a super charming coastal town that really shines in the fall. The streets are lined with colorful old buildings, and the whole place has a cozy vibe with cooler weather and fewer crowds. You can wander around the town, visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, or hop on a boat tour for a cool view of the harbor. And the food? Amazing! Fall is prime time for seafood, so we had to try some fish cakes, lobster rolls, local beer, and even some hand-crafted ice cream. 10/10 recommend!

3. Peggy’s Cove: Sunset and Peaceful Walks

No visit to Nova Scotia is complete without stopping at Peggy’s Cove. The lighthouse is iconic, and while it can get packed in the summer, fall brings a much more laid-back vibe. Whether you catch the sunrise or sunset, the views are absolutely stunning, with the lighthouse silhouetted against the glowing sky. Afterward, take a walk around the rocky coastline—it’s so peaceful with the cool air and fewer tourists. It’s one of those places where you can really slow down and soak in the beauty.

Final Thoughts

Autumn in Nova Scotia is all about gorgeous views and cozy vibes. Whether you’re cruising along the Cabot Trail, exploring Lunenburg’s charming streets, or enjoying a peaceful moment at Peggy’s Cove, there’s something special about this time of year. It’s the perfect excuse to slow down, enjoy the fall colors, and experience everything Nova Scotia has to offer.
